An Inspiring character: Karan

Karana
Karna is considered one of the most prominent characters in the Mahabharata. Karan is named among the best archers of the Mahabharata.

When Kunti was unmarried, Durvasa Rishi once visited her father's palace.  Kunti served the sage very well for a full year. Kunti is believed to have received a boon by the sage Durvasa, who could get a son by doing penance to any deity. Kunti did the penance of the God Sun, which pleased the Sun. God appeared to Kunti and gave the son as a boon. The child was born with armor and coil. Who was later known as Karan. But Kunti was unmarried at that time. Due to public shame, Kunti put that child in a box and sank it into the Ganges.

That box found the charioteer Adhirath and his wife Radha on the banks of the Ganges. They adopted Karna and started adhering to him. For this reason Karan is also known as Sut Putra and Radhe. From childhood, Karna was more interested in war than in chariot like her father.

Karna and his father met Acharya Drona, who was one of the best teachers at that time. At the time Dronacharya used to teach Kuru princes only. He refused to teach Karna because Karna was a charioteer and Drona only taught Kshatriyas.

After Dronacharya refused Karna, he approached Parasurama, who taught only Brahmins. When Karna came to know about this, Karna described himself as a Brahmin and requested Parashurama to teach him. Parashurama accepted Karna's request and declared Karna master in war and archery. Thus Karna became a very hard working and skilled disciple of Parashurama.

When Karna's education is about to end, then one day his guru Lord Parshuram is resting in the afternoon with his head placed on Karna's thigh.  After some time there comes a scorpion, which bites on Karna's thigh.  Karna used to bear the sting by not removing the scorpion so that the rest of the Guru is not disturbed.  After some time when Guru Parashurama wakes up from sleep, he sees that Karna's thigh is bleeding.  Seeing this, Lord Parshuram angrily says, "Such tolerance can only have in a Kshatriya.  You have gained knowledge by lying to me, so I curse you that whenever you need most of your learning, it will not work at that time. "

From the beginning, Karan had a rivalry with Arjuna, which led to Karan's friendship with Duryodhana. While learning armaments, Karan killed a Brahmin's cow with an arrow Due to which that Brahmin got angry and cursed Karna that whom you want to kill, it will be your end at the hands of him only.

Karan had vowed to kill the five Pandavas.  But at the behest of Mata Kunti, he limited his vow to kill Arjuna. Many examples of Karna's charity are also heard. Hearing his fame of charity, Indra went to him to ask for armor and coil. Karan knew the secret of Indra's, despit of it he donated the armor and coil to Indra, in return, Indra gave Karna his unfailing session.

Next day when Karna went to war everyone saw that he did not have his armor and his coil. After some time, fighting with Arjuna, a wheel of Karna's chariot suddenly hit the ground. Karna started fixing the wheels of the chariot while chasing the earth. But Arjuna was constantly attacking Karna with his arrow. Karna also forgot his learned education due to the curse given by Guru Parasurama. Taking advantage of this, Arjuna severed Karna's head from the celestial weapon. After Karna's body fell to the ground, a flame emerged from Karna's body and was absorbed into the sun.
